In summation:
A) 12 hours of the most aggressive surgery known to mankind -- removed my colon, zapped away at the wall of cancer along my abdomen, filled me with "hot chemo" for the cutting edge "shake and bake" procedure.
B) 25 days in the hospital, tons of complications, needed pint after pint of blood. Allowed to eat or drink nothing but ice chips for three weeks. Much pain, was taken through the wringer over and over again.
C) Holy shit, you assholes elected Donald Trump. I go away for a few weeks and you guys decide to hand the country over to Russia through this fraudulent asshole. What the hell is wrong with you people? I voted early, before my surgery, for Hillary. I really can't believe you f*cking idiots voted for this guy, he is one big giant pussy and a whale turd dipped in Cheeto dust. I've hated him since 1982, when he totally screwed up a perfectly good football league by putting his cock where it didn't belong. My cousin died for this country, and it wasn't so you morons could hand it over to Vladimir Putin.
D) Home recovery for one month. Food still fed to me through an IV, had to learn how to eat again. Visiting nurses tended to me twice a week.
E) Off the food IV finally, learned how to eat again.
F) Started chemo. Scheduled for 3 hours of chemo twice a month for the next six months. Also, portable home chemo for 46 hours every two weeks. Nurse comes, wears a full body chemical suit to remove the home chemo pump. Neighbors think we're cooking meth in here. I am tolerating the chemo very well so far! No sickness, still have my appetite. Hope it stays that way -- also hope it's killing whatever cancer that's left in me.
G) Still helped my wife direct stage version of "It's A Wonderful Life," by the Davis County Players right here at the Iowa Theatre. Show was an amazing success -- even more so because of the fact that we were fighting cancer the whole time. The cast and crew were amazing, so were the audiences!
H) Hawkeyes knocked off Michigan in a huge upset and blew Nebraska off the field! Also, the basketball team beat Iowa State! Gotta love it.
I) Another surgical procedure this Thursday -- another round of chemo next Monday and Tuesday. Hoping to return to work at the radio station next week -- before Christmas. Hoping to visit the family in Oelwein Christmas Weekend -- hoping to visit the wife's family in Kansas City the following weekend. Hoping to watch the Hawkeyes win in the Outback Bowl over Florida on January 2nd.
Hoping.
