By JAMES GROB
You can cast your dark shadow, you can hide her from us; you can mock her, taint her, conceal her, put her in your darkest, coldest, most dank and odiferous corner.
But we will find her.
Dust her off, shine her, brighten her back to a warm glare.
She's Liberty.
She's in our hearts
She's in our minds
We dream her.
Hide her from us?
Steal her from us?
Tell us she's yours and not ours?
She's Liberty!
She's our child, she's our parent, she's our sibling.
Many have fought for her, died for her, many more live for only her.
Hide her from me?
She holds my hand and whispers the passion of freedom into my soul.
She's my voice, she's my song.
She's love and she's power.
And grace and hope.
In light and darkness,
I will find her and hold her close
I will share her spirit, with all
Even with you
Who try to hide her from us.
And we will never let her go.
