James and Michelle Grob wed May 30

James and Michelle Grob of Bloomfield were officially united in marriage on Thursday, May 30 in a brief ceremony in the Little Flock Chapel at the Little Flock Roadside Rest Area on highway 2 west of Centerville.

The ceremony was officiated by Jack Knox of Bloomfield Christian Church. Witnesses included Joanna McCoy of Bloomfield, Chris Griffin of Bloomfield and Stephanie Knox of Bloomfield. The couple exchanged traditional vows, listened to a contemporary wedding song and listened to a reading by Joanna McCoy. Stephanie Knox recorded a full video of the event. James wore an Iowa Hawkeye T-shirt, Michelle wore an Iowa State Cyclone T-shirt, Jack wore a Texas Longhorns collar shirt, and Joanna wore a stunning mixture of both Hawkeye and Cyclone attire.

Michelle -- formerly Michelle Kay Williams, formerly Michelle Kay Dykema -- is the daughter of Don and Donna Dykema of Overland Park, Kansas. She was born in Willmar, Minnesota and is a graduate of Urbandale High School in Urbandale, Iowa. She is an alumnus of Iowa State University. She is currently employed as a talented and gifted teacher by the Davis County School District. Her son Maxx Williams and her daughter Hanna Lytle are both graduates of Davis County High School and Iowa State University. Both Michelle and James are involved with the Davis County Players and the Davis County Fine Arts Council, among other community and church organizations.

James is the son of Butch and Lois Grob of Oelwein, Iowa. He was born in Winona, Minnesota and is a graduate of Oelwein High School in Oelwein, Iowa. He is an alumnus of the University of Iowa. He is an established editor, writer, columnist, playwright, author, blogger and bad poet. His daughter Megan Ross is a graduate of Davis County High School and the University of Iowa. His daughter Katherine Grob attended Davis County High School, is a graduate of Coronado High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. and is enrolled as a freshman at the University of Iowa.

A celebration of the marriage was held on Saturday, June 15 at the cabins near the campground in the McGowen Recreation and Wildlife Area east of Bloomfield. Close friends and family members were in attendance and food, beverages, cupcakes and snacks were served and happily devoured from noon to midnight.

James and Michelle currently reside in downtown Bloomfield.
