High marks to Minnesota playwrights and to the festival judges for choosing some plays that tackled tough issues. Esther Hoffman's "The Gospel According To Hertha" deals with matters of faith in a humorous way. Mary Jost's "Invincible!" tells a story of a dying matriarch. Whitney Rowlands's "The Night Light" gives writers and directors a lesson in subtext. And t.d. barna's "On The Home Front" explores the psychological costs of war. Heavy, moving stuff.
Can't wait to see tonight's show! National Night includes work from established playwrights from all corners of the country! I hope my play "Dream A Little Dream" can stand up with the rest of them! So excited!
