If this marketing method were successful, I would initially lose a lot of money, but over the long term my mediocre motion picture would possibly make 100 times more money than it would have through the traditional marketing methods.

If I were marketing a mediocre but marginally controversial motion picture, and I wanted the entire world to suddenly take interest, I just might deliberately try to convince the entire world that said motion picture is so controversial that a guano-crazy foreign dictator is calling for it to be banned and that terrorist groups are threatening to blow up theaters that dare to present that motion picture.
