
The Davis County Players have announced that the upcoming spring play will be the heartwarming and hilarious classic, "On Golden Pond," by Ernest Thompson.
First-time director and DC Players veteran actor Aaron Gingerich has stepped up to direct the beloved story, which will be performed on stage on Friday and Saturday, April 7 and 8.
Open auditions will be held at 7 p.m. the Kay Burchette Center on the east side of the Bloomfield Square on Tuesday, January 31 and Thursday, Feb. 2. Anyone is welcome to audition for any of the seven available roles. Men and women of all ages are needed to fill the roles, including a teenage boy.
The characters include:
- Norman Thayer, Jr.: Male, 79.
- Ethel Thayer: Female, 69.
- Charlie Martin: Male, 40s.
- Chelsea Thayer Wayne: Female, 40s.
- Billy Ray: Male, teen, 14.
- Bill Ray: Male, 40s or 50s.
- Phone Operator: Female, any age.
On Golden Pond was presented to great critical and popular acclaim -- first off, then on Broadway. It is a touching, funny and warmly perceptive study of a spirited and lovable elderly couple facing their twilight years. The local and regional audience is sure to enjoy the Davis County Players' interpretation.
The successful play has seen thousands of productions worldwide and was made into an Oscar-winning movie starring Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepbern. A musical version was also created for PBS, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
In addition to the cast, crew members will be needed for the production. This includes lights, sound, stage crew, props, hair and make-up, costumes and more. Anyone interested should also come to the auditions, January 31 and/or Feb. 2.
